The Power of Eggs in Senior Pet Nutrition

When I formulate whole food diets for senior pets, hard boiled eggs are one of the most common ingredients that I use. Eggs are an inexpensive source of protein & fat, and provide many essential micronutrients including copper, iron, magnesium, potassium, and several of the B Vitamins. Food Therapy TCVM principles, view eggs as a Jing tonic. Jing translates to essence and is the foundation of health. Prenatal Jing is inherited from the parents and Postnatal Jing is acquired from food. As our pets age, their Jing begins to gradually become deficient. Foods such as eggs, that “start life” can help to preserve a pets Jing which ultimately improves their vitality, engagement, and overall quality of life.
